Soprano Ally Christiansen is a recent 2024 Master of Music in Voice Performance & Pedagogy: Performance Emphasis from Rider University’s Westminster Choir College. During her time at Westminster, Ally sang in the Westminster Symphonic Choir as well as in the prestigious Westminster Singers. In addition, she sang as the soprano soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria in D Major with Symphony in C and the New Jersey Master Chorale under the baton of Noam Aviel. Her final role in Westminster Opera Theater was Masha from Ben Moore’s new Enemies: A Love Story. Previous roles include La Zelatrice from Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Katherine Howard in a staged production of Libby Larsen’s Try Me, Good King. In 2023 she won first place in the graduate-level Westminster Voice Awards Competition, receiving a scholarship for the 2024 academic year.
A recipient of the university’s prestigious 4-year full tuition Heritage Scholarship for academic achievement, Ally graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance at Brigham Young University in 2021. Her senior recital, Music through the Ages, highlighted historical music by women and received the university’s Minerva Teichert award. Her roles at BYU included Ida and covering Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, and covering the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte. Recent professional work includes teaching private voice lessons at Dr. Isaac Hurtado’s Utah Vocal Arts Academy, as well as singing as a chorister for the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has been featured in masterclasses with Angel Blue, Dr. Scott Allen Jarrett, Prof. JoAnn Kulesza, and Anton Belov, and Dr. J. Arden Hopkin. She studied with Darrell Babidge and Jennifer Welch-Babidge from 2012-2018, with Dr. Diane Reich from 2018-2022, and is now studying with Professor Margaret Cusack.
